Problem: New PCs no longer have COM interfaces, only USB's. The adapter required is the Z501L which will convert from RS232 to USB.
Install the driver for this adapter on the enclosed CD. Follow the instructions on the screen or the enclosed instructions.
Please note: If you have more than one of these adapters, or if your colleagues have adapters of the same type, always use the adapter with which you performed the installation. The best way to identify your adapter. These adapters have a unique identity number, which is queried when plugged into the PC. If you connect another adapter (even if it is the same TYPE) to your PC, your PC will immediately recognize a new device and you will have to reinstall and configure the driver.

After the installation, check on which COM port the USB adapter has been configured. Go to System Properties and then Device Manager:
Open the Ports section (COM and LPT) and check which interface the USB Serial Port is set to. Use this setting in the PC program you are working with.
Select a COM port that you can select with your PC program. It does not matter if it is assigned to a COM interface, this is changed automatically.
